General Information:

Bacopa is beautiful and easy care. Hundreds of little flowers cover these trailing plants all season long. Bacopa do well in baskets or containers. The biggest trick to successfully growing bacopa is to regularly water them. If they dry out then they will take a break from blooming until you start keeping them consistently moist again.

1. Choose the Right Location:

Bacopa prefers full sun to partial shade. Select a location in your garden that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight per day. Ensure the container has well-draining soil to prevent waterlogging, as bacopa does not tolerate soggy conditions.

2. Prepare the Soil:

Use a quality soilless mix to fill the container or basket. Bacopa thrives in slightly acidic soil with a pH level between 5.5 and 6.5.

3. Watering:

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the bacopa plants regularly, especially during dry periods. Avoid overhead watering, as it can lead to leaf spot diseases. Instead, water at the base of the plants to keep the foliage dry. If the bacopa goes dry and wilty, when watering is resumed the plant will cycle out of bloom for a couple of weeks. Do not worry though, it will begin re-blooming before long with regular waterings.

4. Fertilizing:

Apply a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season or incorporate a 3-4 month slow release fertilizer when preparing the soil mix. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the correct dosage. Over-fertilization can lead to excessive foliage growth and fewer flowers.

5. Pests and Diseases:

Bacopa is susceptible to the regular line-up of bug culprits: aphids, thrips, tarnished plant bug, whitefly,  among others. Keep an eye out and If necessary, treat the infested plants with organic pest control methods.
