General Information: 

Balsam, also known as touch-me-not, is a popular flowering plant that belongs to the family Balsaminaceae. Native to tropical regions of Asia and Africa, balsam impatiens is widely cultivated for its vibrant and showy flowers. They have lovely orchid-like blossoms held tightly along the upright stems

Balsam impatiens thrive in bright, indirect light. They prefer partial shade, especially during the hottest parts of the day. Placing them in a location that receives morning sun and afternoon shade is ideal for their growth.

These plants prefer well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. A soil pH between 6.0 and 7.0 is optimal for their growth. It is important to keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so make sure to water them when the top inch of soil feels dry.

Balsam thrive in warm temperatures between 65°F and 80°F (18°C to 27°C). They are not frost-tolerant, so it is important to protect them from cold temperatures. These plants also prefer moderate humidity levels.

To promote healthy growth and abundant flowering, it is recommended to fertilize balsam every 2-3 weeks during the growing season. Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer and follow the instructions on the packaging for proper application.

Balsam are generally resistant to pests and diseases. However, they can occasionally be affected by aphids, spider mites, or fungal diseases. Regularly inspect your plants for any signs of infestation or disease.
